When one of my reclining sofa sections started to fail after 11 years (sofa in great shape, just a mechanical problem), I thought it would probably be the motor going bad. I turned them over and saw it was either the motor or this switch. I tried plugging in another switch from one of the working sections, and was able to isolate that the switch was bad. Replacing the switch took some care to keep the cables well organized, but it ended up being just unscrewing the professional wiring guides and carefully repacking. One of the other switches started acting flakey, so I got a second, and now both are fixed and working like new. Should extend the life of my sofa more years. Pretty impressive that this part is widely used and still existed after 11 years. I'm very satisfied that this worked out, and if your recliner is worth keeping and starts to fail to recline, check this out and consider this alternative DIY.
I ordered this based on a recommendation from the AI bots and before I disassembled the chair. It turns out the mounting holes on this unit were on the opposite side to the ones on the unit removed from the chair. I was able to disassemble the unit and turn around the mounting plate relatively easily, but the initial error was entirely my fault. The new unit is an exact replacement for the handle that came on our Hancock and Moore power recliner. The chair is fully functional again and I am a happy customer.
